Get Ready to Get Incensed!

by Marissa

Hello all! Welcome to the first posting at www.getincensed.com.

When you visit this site, you’re going to find passion, anger, controversy, aggrivation, and strong opinion. (All the things that make the world go ’round!) I formally invite you and everyone you know to join in the discussions.

Let’s get started!

As a Planned Parenthood activist, I must share with you an article that was published last Monday on the Planned Parenthood webiste.
Budget Proposal Ignores Family Needs

Bush.jpg

The short and not-so-sweet recap goes something like this:

The Bush administration is pushing back on the Prevention First Act, and President Bush’s new budget proposes a severe cut in funding for the Medicaid and Title X programs. So what does that really mean? Oh, I’ll tell you what that means! It means that funding for family planning services, including: birth control, emergency contraception and sex education would be take a huge dip if they get their way!

PPFA’s President, Cecile Richards is taking the floor and getting real. Richards is speaking out about the fact that the Bush administration has already cut away at the two critical programs, and that this budget will only do more harm.

I’ve written to my local representatives, demanding that they give Bush and his people a wake-up call. The importance of the Prevention First Act, and funding for the Medicaid and Title X programs can hardly be expressed in words. When you strip away the facts, what you have left is the humanizing truth that our children’s futures could be compromised by ignoring these family plannng issues. That doesn’t sit well with me.

I’m with you 100% on this, Marissa. Cuts to programs such as this will not help anyone. Here in Georgia, Bush has already refused to help the ailing Peachcare program, which could mean thousands MORE children could be without healthcare soon!

  2. Jennifer Says:

Now that makes sense. Let’s cut the programs that help PREVENT unwanted pregnancies. That way we can have HUNDREDS MORE families on welfare and kids without homes. Way to go Bush. You really thought this one through.

I thought this blog was about incense.

I’m glad it’s about getting incensed.

Here’s what I’m incensed about today:
The 2008 Presidential Race will Cost $1 Billion.

What a waste of money! Just to be president?! Can’t we as a nation of givers (personal and corporate) spend that billion dollars on something more useful? Like health, education, etc.

Here’s the story that got me incensed:

  4. Marissa Says:

I’m totally with you Jose! I have believed for a long time that there should a maximum set amount for campaigning and all excess funds raised should be donated to a charity or government program that the respective party supports.

  5. Sara Wilson Says:

Excuse, and what you think concerning forthcoming elections?
